Curved Top Windows in Surrey

Steven Crame and Marina Bacchelli bought the Old Pump House in Berkshire with the plan of turning the derelict building into a family home. Not only was it an ambitious project as the couple’s first renovation, but it was also their first home together. Here at The Heritage Window Company, we were more than happy to lend a helping hand.

The building featured some wonderful curved top windows, but unfortunately the steel frames installed in the 1930’s were badly damaged and could only house single pane glazing. Wanted more security and warmth for their home, the couple contacted Heritage searching for a like-for-like replacement which would be in-keeping with the building’s industrial tone.

Heritage manufactured and installed 4 arch topped windows for the front of the property and a further 2 around the remainder of the building. All windows were created to bespoke sizes and matched to a specific RAL colour which would be used on styling cues throughout the building. Manufactured here in the UK by Heritage, each window frame was taken to site and fitted before the sealed window units were installed to make the whole building watertight.

We even had a celebrity installer as George Clarke was filming the home for his Channel 4 programme, Restoration Man. After a quick bit of training, the team and Steven let George lift in and install one of the curved window units. As Steven and George look back at the installed windows during the show, George commented, “They are beautiful, absolutely beautiful windows,” with Steven agreeing, “Yes, they look really good!”
