Benefits of aluminium patio doors

What are patio doors?

A patio door is a large door featuring glazing, typically with a sliding mechanism or hinge, that leads to the exterior of a property.

Patio doors are typically fitted in a space leading out onto the garden, maximising natural light into spaces where you’re likely to entertain guests – such as a kitchen or conservatory.

Depending on where you want to fit your aluminium patio door, we can manufacture a design which will fit the aesthetic of your home, allowing it to fit seamlessly into the architecture.

What’s the difference between bi-fold doors, French patio doors and patio doors?

Bi-fold doors are a type of patio door which have multiple hinges and typically fold to one side, rather than opening like a traditional door or sliding.

Bi-fold doors offer wide outdoor views and can be large enough to replace almost the entirety of your wall. When closed, the frames will slightly break up the viewing angle, although our slim aluminium frames ensure this interruption will be incredibly minor. When folded back, your bi-fold doors will completely open your home to the outside.

Sliding patio doors are similar to bi-fold doors, but can be made to have wider glass panels with minimal interruptions when closed. With our aluminium sliding patio doors, one door remains constant, while the other slides behind it, opening up your space to the outside.

French patio doors consist of only two doors, which open like traditional doors, usually outwards into the garden. These doors usually have wider frames, which may obstruct viewing angles more than a sliding patio door or bi-fold door. Despite this, they still offer a superior viewing angle to traditional doors.
